Squares and Powers

52=55=25 OR 72=77=49 5 ^ 2 = 5 * 5 = 25 \text{ OR } 7^2 = 7 * 7 = 49

You multiply the number by the size of the power, so squaring you multiply a number once by itself.

53=555 5^3 = 5 * 5 * 5 54=5555 5^4 = 5 * 5 * 5 * 5 55=55555 5^5 = 5 * 5 * 5 * 5 * 5

Square Roots and Roots

Square Roots means "what times by itself to makes the number?". For example: 100=10,1010=100 \sqrt{100} = 10, 10 * 10 = 100 For other roots (cube roots for example) it works the same way. Except, you find what times by itself a certain number of times to make the number:

3033.107,3.1073.1073.10730 \sqrt[3]{30} \approx 3.107, 3.107 * 3.107 * 3.107 \approx 30

Most of the time the answer will not be a nice whole number so you will probably need to use a calculator.
